Parliament and TV Shows

Such Ka Saamna, an Indian version of Moment of Truth of Star World raised a hue and cry in recent Parliament sessions, the questions asked in the program have been entirely personal and could be devastating the family relations. The questions aim the relationships between the family members, and are a concern in a country like India, where the society still holds a strong family system. Not just with Such Ka Samna but most of the reality shows being telecasted these days need a inspection of vulgarity and nudity.

The committee to moniter the media as suggested by Parliament looks a necessity to rate the programs telecasted and warn the parents regarding the programs having adult content. It is absolutely necessary in the manner that movies are sensored, TV programs also need a sensor cut that controls the obscenity and vulgarity of the programs telecasted. TV shows of the day are the biggest distraction for the younger generation of the day. The citizens tomorrow shall only be responsible and respectable if they are groomed properly today.

The decision of committee to be laid to moniter media looks to have caused a great turmoil in media as evident by the way they have been collecting opinions in metros regarding the same, the levels of frustration seem to be so high that one of the popular journalist took every opportunity to bash the Legislators and Parliamentarians in his blog. He has even advised them to work for the benefit of society rather than discussing such issues. Never did I understand what he meant by society. I shall take this opportunity to challenge the journo and media who have been collecting the opinions of people in metros, concerning this issue, let there be a referendum across the country and then you will know the true pulse of India. Its not just the people living in metros that count for Indian population. Look out of the window, there is a lot more unseen world.

I pity the understanding of people in Indian metros who take the opposition of government, and question the rights of government for the content being telecasted in media. I shall ask if it is okay to telecast a porn movie in a entertainment channel, of course this spoils no body's life, and also is being watched by people on their wish, also being acted in by people on their wish? Will this be acceptable to the so called broadminded people of metros. If a reality show with semi vulgarity and nudity is accepted then why not a porn movies. Logically I see no difference. Its the time media wakes up and learns to be responsible speaking sensibly, keeping in mind of Indian masses.

Politics of Vendetta

Indian politics have always staged the drama of revenge ever since the independence. Nehru was the first to start with dismissal of left government in Kerala. The latest attacks on Mrs Ritu Joshi are an act of shame undoubtedly. The statements made by the PCC chief are derogatory and unpardonable. But no word of her statement meant ill regading the dalit issue. Still for the reason being a dalit on the recieving end, she was booked under non bailable SC/ST act. What more can be a bigger misuse of law when a CM herself comits to it. While the law has its own course to take for the remarks made, torching the personal properity by alleged BSP workers is condemnable and unaccpetable in a democracy.

This has not been the first time that Mayawati has taken to politics of Vendetta. Varun Gandhi has been a target earlier for his communal remarks by being invoked with NSA. The vote bank of certain communities in election had been the reason behind the whole game. The main agenda was to break through the votes of the community who in recent times were considered loyal to her opponet Mulayam. The issue submerged only when the Court of law has ruled out the possibility of invoking a NSA. The eposide next had been after elections when Amethi and Raibarely had to face water and power cut in the worst ever way modren India could have heard of, with more than 16 hrs a day just for revenge against the people for victory of Sonia and Rahul.

Mayawati had been a canditate of high expectaions as a CM, owing to the poverty she faced in her childhood and the struggle she led to reach the highiest stage of UP. The middle class expected her to be a step towards change and development like that of Mr. CB Naidu in AP. BSP was considered a party with ideals at the time of debut, cherished highly for the idea to upbring the backward sections of the society. As the times passed by, the ideas and Ideals seem to be dead and burried along with its founder Kanshiram who put his heart and Soul to uplift the weaker sections. BSP was no different from other political parties in recent election in competing to field candidates with crimal background. The alligation of killing a public servant for not funding the b'day of Mayawati added to the growing bad reputation of the party. The staues of Kanshiram, and Mayawati being errected in all parts of the state wasting the public money and with no appent use has worked against BSP in recent election.

It's the time Maya realises that election can't just be be won forever in name of cast, creed and community. People of a democracy cannot always be sidetracked away from development in the name of above. Most people now seem to have lost their hopes in BSP supremo any more as a ray of change. But it's not yet too late that she realizes the expectation of people that gave her the chair of UP CM. Maya has to open her eyes to live eternaly in hearts of people rather than being a statue in a chowrasta.

The Blackmail Politics.. India Today

The generation next of Indian politics began after the defeat of Mrs. Indira Gandhi in the elections held post emergency. A coalition led by Jana Sangh came to power in 1977 unveiling a new era of coalition governments in Indian political scenario. The sway of congress over the nation was brought to an end giving opportunities to new parties in regional interests in various states. The communists taking over Kerala and Bengal, the rise of DMK in Tamil Nadu and TDP in AP in later times battered the chances of a single party rule in centre. The regional parties laid emphasis on development of the states they represented and started out in building a new India.

The opportunists in various states succeed in creating a wave against existing congress through destructive means that endangered the unity and integrity of the country. The Tamil Nationalism started by DMK and the self respect issue raised by NTR in Andhra Pradesh. These parties which formed in opposition to existing congress lacked in principles and ideology. The issues raised by them brought a divide in the existing society. To keep the hold on the state after gaining the power, the regional parties looked towards news ways of development and there by gained the confidence of people and society.

It was by 1995 the regional parties occupied the greater part of the stage. The regional parties gaining countable power to make and break governments in national scenario started a new trend of black mail politics to meet more than the needs of their states. CB Naidu of Andhra Pradesh was the first to play this with AB Vajpayee government later followed by DMK and finally now it’s the turn of honorable rail mister Mamtha Didi. The regional parties started an exploitation of the national resources in the interest of their own states as evident form the huge funds that Mr. Naidu got during NDA govt. or the heavy development activities carried out by Maran in Chennai.

The political parties with numbers enough to make or break governments have now come to a point wherein they overlook the national interest and have started concentrating on their own states and to make their position safe by showering gifts and boons on the people of their state at an expense of the rest of the nation. The unequal distribution of wealth and development in country has a lot to do with these regional players. The transfer funds more than the deserved to some parts of country has proved expensive to the rest. It’s the time that people of the country wake up and realize that an India of equality in development and wealth stands more stable than being a nation of regional imbalances. The time is now ripe to redefine the constitution of the country restricting the regional players in national dais.

Indian Educational System, 100 day Reform

May that be the growing stress on the kids or it is the dropout percentages after class X, that made the central educational ministry move one of the most appreciated reforms in Indian education system. It was late Guruji Rabindranath Tagore’s Shantinikethan that brought the first ideal education system to the country producing the best icons of the nation, Amarthya Sen and Mrs. Indira Gandhi. And it’s now the turn of Mr. Kapil Sibal who sought the crusade against the growing numbers of dropouts from school and the growing stress levels on school children at a tender age.
The new educational system scraps the board examination to class X students letting it be an option for students opting to vocational courses and to the students who prefer to pursue Pre College in different institute. The new system facilitates all the High Schools run by government to be upgraded with plus two facilitating the rural students in their respective places. This can greatly aid the government to bring down the drop out percentage in schools. The other expected outcome, reducing the stress levels on the students still remains a distant dream. The stress levels on the children are in direct proportion with the higher aspirations of the parents from the kids from a very early age. Though every parent has a right to dream and weave the future of their kids, there needs to be certain limits for this and parents should learn to show some restraint from forcing their kids into a career of their choice rather than the interest of the child.
Measures are required to prevent educational institutes from commercializing the aspirations of the parents leading to a mad race for the entry into certain professional courses. The mass brainwash carried out on the future generations of the nation and horrifying them with the consequences of not being admitted to certain courses. The cases of students committing suicide not being able to stand up the expectations the parents and the educational institutes have been reported over the past few years. The things that horrify me the most are most of the schools have now started giving up a sports hour from the weekly curriculum of the students. The stress that was laid in inculcating good manners and good ethics among students now misses in most schools. The parents seem to be happy with the numbers their kids score in the examinations conducted rather than the knowledge gained.
The heaps of work given to students to be done at home consumes their complete play time leaving them no time even at home for the extracurricular activities that help in molding the younger generations of the day to responsible citizens of tomorrow. Apart from the rubbish that’s being fed to the mind in school, most parents opt for tuitions to their kids pushing them further deep into the ocean of stress.
This first step taken by the government to reform the education system needs applause. Still there are many more steps to go in reforming Indian education system and bring it to the best shape. I feel that the whole system of examination be replaced with an open book mode. What help is of learning things by heart when they are all available in 101 forms to the people with an access as easy as a click of a mouse. Unless the attitude of the society and parents change and unless they realize that a student needs to have an all-round development the second objective of the government can never be achieved.
